Lacey takes on a job shadow from the local high school, causing Brent to get one too; the two teens quickly find out that the careers they want don't necessarily want them. Hank acquires a fondue set at a garage sale, and starts having fondue parties. Davis, feeling left out, has to strive to bring something new to fondue, and suffers for his efforts. Emma, upset over the recent divorce of a friend, tries to be nicer to Oscar, which drives him into the arms of an alternate Emma, who must then become the "un-Emma" in order to get rid of him again.

The 12 remaining bachelorettes move into a villa, and before three rose-less ladies move out at the end of the episode, Lorenzo squires one, Lisa, around Rome's Villa Borghese. This doesn't make Lisa popular with some of her competitors. Group dates include a motor-scooter tour of Rome and a Mediterranean cruise, where one bachelorette passes out after drinking too much. There's also an emotional breakdown, suffered by Erica. And back at Lorenzo's villa, two bachelorettes break into his bedroom.

As the guys test out the pick-up line, "Ted Mosby, Architect" on the ladies, they realize it really works. But when Robin hears that Ted is parading around town picking up girls, she is hot on his heels to discover the truth.
