While on a mission to retrieve an amulet before a powerful demon can restore his strength with it, Faith introduces Buffy to her reckless method of slaying which leaves Buffy wanting more of the wild life; while Giles is trying to keep his cool in front of the stuffy new watcher, Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. When Faith accidentally kills the deputy mayor Allan Finch, she tries to clean up the crime but when Buffy confronts her about her actions, she simply replies "I don't care".

When Sally tells Officer Don she can't take living with Dick, Harry, and Tommy anymore, he assumes that she wants him to propose. Sally realizes, however, that what she really wants is to start living as an independent woman, and they tearfully break off their engagement. When Dick has a tenant-landlord dispute with the Dubceks, he casts Harry out of the family for consorting with the enemy. The situation escalates to the point where Dick, frozen and filthy, is reduced to squatting in his apartment without benefit of heat or lights. The feud ends when Dick realizes he was so preoccupied that he didn't pay attention to an important milestone in Sally's life - her all-too-brief engagement. When Alissa, the girl of his dreams, gets detention, Tommy works hard to get punished as well, in the hopes that it will provide him with the perfect opportunity to ask her out.

Bobby lets Luanne's new boyfriend, a self-proclaimed genius named Rad Thibodeaux, throw a wild party in Boomhauer's house. Luanne tells on him and gets him removed as Boomhauer's house-sitter, Bobby starts a prank war with Luanne. Bobby replaces Luanne's birth-control pills with sweet tarts, she convinces him that the trick has gotten her pregnant. To teach Bobby about taking responsibility for his actions, Hank and Peggy tell him that he'll have to marry Luanne.

When Harm and Mac set out to find C.I.A. Agent Clayton Webb's killer after his body is found aboard a burning ship, they inadvertently uncover a rogue government spy agency.

Grace gets a visit from her critical, over-the-top mother, a would-be star whose propensity for breaking out into show tunes and impersonations dismays her daughter -- and delights Will, Jack and Karen. She also wreaks havoc by suggesting Will and Grace wed, despite their sexual differences. When Will winces at the fantasy of committing to anyone who needs to be the star of a relationship, it's an eye-opener for Grace, who sees she's more of a chip off the old block than she imagined. Meanwhile, Karen thinks she might be pregnant so Jack helps her take a pregnancy test.

Mike and Nikki struggle with taking their relationship to the next level, i.e. sex. Stacy runs a phony psychic hotline on Paul. And the rest of the staff participates in a stakeout to demonstrate the city's new police technology.
