Stardate: 53447.2 As the Voyager crew takes some "down time" on a planet, several attend the popular game of Tsunkatse there. However, they are shocked to see Seven of Nine as one of the fighting opponents in the ring. She and Tuvok were suppose to be on an away on a separate mission to investigate a nearby micro-nebula. However, Voyager's attempts to beam her off the planet are met without success, as her physical presence appears to be being projected from another location. Seven must reluctantly fight in these matches, as Tuvok was injured during their capture, and his medical treatment is contingent on her participation in the games.

As Voyager struggles to locate Seven and Tuvok, Seven is forced to fight in a Tsunkaste match in which only one fighter can leave alive.

Joey is chosen to be part of a group of students to paint a school mural, but when hers is defaced before the unveiling, Dawson offers words of encouragement while Pacey takes action and risks suspension when he goes in search of the culprit. Meanwhile, when Andie's PSAT scores rank among the best in the country, she gambles with everything she has worked for and comes clean to Principal Green about the previously stolen test; and Pacey moves in with Deputy Doug when their sister and her kids move back into the Witter house.

Shane demands a one-million-dollar ransom from Dylan. Noah points out that it may have been smarter to kidnap someone whom Dylan actually likes. Dylan agrees to pay the ransom; but Shane kidnaps him with help from Josie, who had claimed to be unaware of her brother's whereabouts. Shane plans to kill Dylan and Noah because it couldn't get him into any more trouble than he already is. They escape while the kidnappers are filling up their van, and scuffle with Shane and his friend. Josie hands over her gun to Dylan because she doesn't want anyone to be murdered. She drops a lit cigarette, which ignites the overflowing gasoline. Although Dylan tells him to forget it, Noah retrieves the ransom money before the van explodes. The kidnappers get arrested. Dr. Martin invites Gina to dinner while Felice is out of town. Gina tries to bond with him, but is angry because he had not called her since Christmas. Dr. Martin visits Gina's hotel room and expresses a willingness to work things out. They embrace, and she agrees to call him "Dad". Gina trains her father in an effort to get him into shape. As Donna arrives for the trio's dinner engagement, Gina finds that Dr. Martin has collapsed. Donna tries desperately to revive him. Kelly becomes ill just before she is to appear on a couples game show with Matt, so Donna takes her place. Matt comes to believe that Kelly shares too many details of their private life. Meanwhile, Josh goes head to head with Joey Lucas, a campaign manager, when her candidate isn't being backed strongly backed by the Democratic party.

After eating some of Rags' dog food, Paul develops a rash before he appears on "The View". Nikki helps him discover the wonders of makeup, though. Stuart tries to convince James that he's gay. Mike hires a hotshot director to film the mayor's Senate commercial, unaware that Trevor is Caitlin's ex-husband. After the commercial turns out to be a flop and Mike fires Trevor, Caitlin accuses him of being jealous.
