Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 3, Episode 20

The Prom

As the all time night-of-nights for the senior students peeks around the halls, Buffy must save her friends and the rest of the school from a scorned student who has trained a pack of hellhounds to attack formalwear. Meanwhile, Angel reveals his feelings that he and Buffy could never have a normal life together and has decided to do the right thing and break up with her and plans to leave town after the Ascension. Of course Buffy saves the day and her night doesn't turn out so bad when she receives a special Class Protector award from her fellow students and Angel shows up looking very dapper in a tux and asks for one last dance.

Dick vs. Strudwick

Airs: 12:00am - 12:30am on NBC

Dick's faculty nemesis, Dr. Vincent Strudwick, writes a physics book that's hailed as a work of genius. When Dick realizes that writing a better book would expose him as a superior alien being, he seeks another means of getting even, finally seizing on Strudwick's displeasure at learning that his teenage daughter Alissa is dating dreaded Solomon spawn Tommy. Dick manipulates Alissa to cause trouble between her and her father, and the conflict comes to a head at the taping of a TV panel show about Strudwick's book, which erupts into Jerry Springer-style fisticuffs. Meanwhile, Sally and Don, feeling "lonely" since their breakup, find themselves succumbing to "ex sex". Also, once Albright befriends a group of misfit Nobel laureates who are in town to hail the publication of Strudwick's book, she can't shake them - they've imprinted on her like a litter of helpless kittens.

When Thaterton stacks his Company softball team with Pro sports stars, Hank pulls Peggy off of her own Softball team to become the Ace pitcher for Strickland Propane. Unfortunately, Hank's over-managing causes her to lose her stuff, and cause her to lose the love for the sport.

Soul Searching

Admiral Chegwidden and Clayton Webb make an unlikely team when they join forces to save a C.I.A. agent from Italian terrorists. Webb already tried once unsuccessfully to liberate the C.I.A. agent, who was his mentor, and knows he needs backup in order to retry the mission. He approaches the Admiral, with whom he has a tenuous relationship, but who he knows credits the agent with saving his life in Vietnam. Together, Webb and Chegwidden go to Italy and put into motion a dangerous trap for the terrorists that, if it backfires, will kill all involved. Meanwhile, Harm suffers an identity crisis when his classic Corvette is stolen.

The staff pesters Nikki for details about her sex life with Mike. James asks Mike to invest his life savings in an Internet company, but when Mike holds off on investing, the stock goes up several points, and Mike must find a way to make the money back. Meanwhile, the mayor has an action figure made of himself but unfortunately, they're all anatomically correct.

A Big Piece of Garbage

Tonight is the annual inventors symposium, and the Professor is hoping that his invention is good enough to win the prize and beat Dr. Wernstrom. He presents the Smelloscope, a device that allows one to smell distant objects. Though he is laughed off the stage by his peers, the crew tests it out back at the Planet Express. Fry discovers what is believed to be the smelliest object in the universe. They learn that the object is a giant ball of garbage that was rocketed into outer space fifty years ago. Now, it's up to the Planet Express crew to figure out how to stop the garbage ball before it crashes to the earth and destroys New New York.
