In the ninth season premiere, Simon appears to be getting extremely close to his new girlfriend, Georgia (guest-star Rheagan Wallace), causing Eric and Annie to suspect they are having sex. Simon's new attitude of being comfortable in the house in his bedroom alone with Georgia and getting caught by Annie only promts the idea even more to Eric and Annie that they are having sex. When the truth finally comes out, Eric and Annie are shocked and try to follow the couple when they are out on a date at a fancy restaurant. Meanwhile, Kevin worries that mother-to-be Lucy may be in denial about her pregnancy when she refuses to go shopping for maternity clothes - even though her pants keep falling down. Also, Matt returns home for a visit and is instantly pulled into the family drama, especially regarding Simon and the Georgia situation as he feels Eric and Annie are not handling it the right way. Lastly, newly high school freshman Ruthie gets in trouble at school when she decides to pull down Martin's pants in front of everyone as a prank. Plus, the twins end up in major trouble as well in their first day at kindergarten.

This episode featured four couples competing as teams.

Ephram and Amy are reunited after a long summer spent apart while Ephram attended Julliard's summer program in New York, but Amy's euphoria is quickly replaced with paranoia after she notices Ephram acting distant. Meanwhile, Andy is plagued by guilt over whether he made the right decision concerning Madison's pregnancy, and Dr. Abbott befriends the town's newest citizen, Jake Hartman, who turns out to be a doctor from California looking to open a new practice in Everwood.

Demon Chihuahua

Tina Madden, who works in a vet's office, adopted NuNu, a stray who was brought into the office. He attacks her roommate, Barclay Quinn, and anyone else who gets near Tina. Cesar tells them that since NuNu is a nervous dog, giving him affection while he is anxious nurtures the nervous state of mind. Cesar sits next to Tina to provoke the unwanted behavior, and NuNu goes nuts; Cesar calmly holds NuNu without giving him attention while he gets over his hissy fit. Then he teaches them to master the walk. They learn to stop the escalation of excitement before it becomes aggression.



The Shiny

Marina Dahlen and her son, Emmett, have a Great Dane named Kane, who is terrified of any shiny surface. He once slipped on a linoleum floor and stunned himself hitting a glass door; now he refuses to walk on shiny floors, including the school building where he used to go with Marina. Cesar walks with Kane, then approaches the school building at a trot, using Kane's own forward momentum to propel him through the doorway. They stop just inside the door to let Kane adjust, and at first, Kane slips as if he's on ice. Cesar patiently and calmly edges him into the hallway and in a few minutes Kane is walking easily. Four days later Marina takes Kane to her class to celebrate his birthday.

Danny has been discharged from the Marines and returns to work and almost immediately he stops a man from stealing chips. Everyone is delighted that he has returned especially Mary. The memories of the war still haunt him and he acts weird and Mary grows concerned. The surveillance staff must deal with 2 of the stupidest people on the planet and find out what they are up to. Delinda and Sam clash, as Delinda doesn't want to rent out Mystique to rich morticians for their closing party.
