The entire town of Sunnydale goes silent when a group of fairy tale demons called The Gentlemen appear and steal everyone's voices. Without being vulnerable to the one thing that can kill them (a human scream) they are free to steal the hearts of seven people. Buffy and gang must solve the mystery and overcome the bad guys without being able to discuss anything.

On Christmas Eve, Harm pays his annual visit to the Vietnam Memorial to honor his father who was shot down on Christmas Eve, 1969. At the memorial, Harm meets a beautiful, but mysterious woman, who claims to have known Harm, Sr. She used to be a singer in a traveling USO tour and she met Harm's father shortly before his fateful flight.

Friends Rob and Ellen are feeling neglected when Will and Grace begin hanging around with a hipper, younger couple: rock 'n' roll photographer Kai and art-gallery manager Naomi. Meanwhile, Jack and Karen help each other through a parent-teacher conference for her step-kids.
