Responsibilities fly out the window when Eric and Annie enjoy separate nights out on Friday. Although the reverend can't find anyone to hang out with him, so he calls a bewildered Matt. Annie is conferring with a professor (guest-star Jeff Yagher). Mary strays even further away from her parents' image of her when she is tempted to drink and smoke one night after work. Also, Mary makes friends with married co-workers Frankie and Johnny (guest-stars Chyler Leigh, Nathan West) with questionable morals while working the late shift. Matt blows Simon's chance at a big date with an older woman (guest-star Katie Stuart) when Matt is distracted by a close encounter of the female kind and forgets to pick up Simon. Also, Lucy gets a taste of the not-so-glamorous side of parenting when her and a classmate take care of an egg.

Isabel is deeply moved when Max throws her a surprise birthday party, but she grows troubled after seeing visions of a bound and gagged Tess. Alex does an interesting cop striptease for Isabel. Congresswoman Whitaker is revealed as Nasedo's killer and as a Skin.

Andromeda docks at a Guard Station, but all is not as it seems. The station houses children brought up in the ways of the High Guard who have honoured the traditions since the empire's fall. But Dylan makes a mistake, and the children are given access to power that could destroy a solar system.

During a helicopter training session, both Zack and Carrie fail important tests: an athlete recovering from knee surgery ignores warnings from Jason to not go kite boarding. He runs into a wind surfer and goes down, crashing into a buoy. Jason calls Leigh in the helicopter for back up. Seeing the man in the water and knowing there is no time to waste, Zack immediately jumps in, even though the helicopter is too high and the dive is dangerous. He manages to get hold of the man. Carrie, for her part, freezes and is unable to jump. Sean is apoplectic that his team should be having such trouble following instructions, but he has bigger problems. Jenna, still smarting from their break up and vowing for revenge, has started showing the training center to two men and a realtor who plan to convert it into a lobster restaurant owing to Sean's non-payment of property taxes.
