Rory is invited to the Harvard/Yale football game which leads to a small rift between Emily and Richard. Lorelai agrees to go on a date with Jason and while things start out poorly, things quickly take a turn for the better.

Cate persuades Rory to try out for basketball because that would've made his dad proud.

A decomposed body is discovered in a tub of acid at a naval base and Ducky and Abby learn that the victim was a submariner. Gibbs discovers that there have been no reports of a sub crewmember missing, so he deduces that one of the subs has an imposter on board. With this new information, the team must find out which sub the man posing as the victim is in and what intentions he may have towards the sub.

However, he isn't prepared for the destruction the drugs do to both his body and his family. Meanwhile, Peyton goes to Lucas to rekindle their relationship, but when she arrives at his house, she catches him with Brooke.

Lilith comes to town for a one-day conference. She and Frasier try to get together, but keep having to cancel. Lilith discusses her romantic problems with a colleague at Cafe Nervosa before having to return to the conference. The woman then meets Frasier and arranges a blind date between an unwitting Frasier and Lilith. Frasier and Lilith plan to meet for drinks at her hotel before their date(s). When it takes longer than expected, Frasier calls the woman who arranged the date and says that he has to cancel. Lilith tries to save face by cancelling the date herself. She and Frasier each believe they have been stood up, but are hesitant to admit it to each other. They have a wonderful evening together, and even help the couple in the next room deal with relationship problems. Frasier winds up falling asleep and staying overnight. Meanwhile, a frantic Niles, Martin and Daphne try to undo the damage after Martin's gun accidentally discharges in Frasier's apartment.

The mutilation of a subway commuter leads the detectives to discover their "victim" may be the perpretator in abducting women and forcing them to live in his dungeon for several years as his bride. As the detectives prepare to arrest their victim turned suspect, Benson arrives ahead of the other detectives to find their perp murdered and is crucified in court as a result of turning away one of his victims four years ago because she did not believe the report.
