Tensions run high as a doubtful Julie lets Mary baby-sit Erica, only if Mary has no visitors. But when Frankie (guest-star Chyler Leigh) comes by and begs Mary to take care of her baby Mercy, Mary can't resist helping her. Then, Mary is then caught with an open bottle of beer while babysitting. Meanwhile, Lucy volunteers to chaperone Ruthie's sleep over and to watch the twins. Also, Simon is on a quest to change his image and does this by piercing his ear. Matt pursues a woman who wants nothing to do with him. Also, Eric and Annie clash with Mary's disreputable friends.

An older Max travels from the future (2014 to be exact) to tell Liz that their relationship will imperil his planet and together they devise a plan to change the future: by making present Max fall out of love with Liz. Not an easy task until Liz tricks Max into believing she slept with Kyle.

when Becker has a high school student shadow him for a day, it turns out to be the most boring day ever at the office. Meanwhile, Reggie, Jake and Bob find that they have told each other all of their stories and have nothing to say to each other anymore. They decide to start sharing more personal stories, and Reggie and Jake learn a little more about Bob than they wanted to know.

Richard and Ling take Cindy McCauliff's case. She was fired for refusing to take a physical, afraid people would find out she's a man. Richard and Ling, although a bit sickened with that, win the case. Cindy meets Mark at the office and they go out. Richard feels Mark has to know the truth, but Cindy says he'll know in the right time. Meanwhile, Ally organizes a models night at the club to attract men. Brian walks into the bar and is hurt by the sight of Ally dancing surrounded by men. He takes the microphone and thanks Ally for moving on so quickly. John and Nelle handle a case about a woman being sued for sexually harassing a man. They're up against Georgia and Renee, and John wins. He sleeps with the client and is a bit disappointed to find out he was a one-time-only thing.

Maya Morgan is a pretty blonde volley ball player who happens to be a childhood friend of Carrie. Jason is immediately smitten with her and she, apparently, with him. While they are exchanging glances, off on the dock, young hooligans Danny and Mark are trying to rip off a car from Skipper, a local fisherman. Danny hops in the car and starts the engine but, unfortunately, catapults it off the edge of the dock. Mark runs to call for help. Sean and Jason come running. They dive into the water, Jason armed with a hammer which he uses to break the rear window of the car and pull Danny to safety. In the process of doing this, Jason gets caught and Sean must dive back and rescue him. Back on shore, Skipper wants to have the kids arrested, but since he has hired them be-fore, it is his word against theirs that the kids were trying to steal the car. Sean takes a liking to Danny, whom he feels he can reform. Leigh, though, knows of Danny's check-ered past and warns Sean against trusting him too

Doug feels the urge for a new car and against Carrie's advice buys it for himself only to find out moments later that the workers at the IPS company are going on strike. He unsuccessfully tries to return the car, forcing Carrie to work major overtime to compensate for his mistake.
