Colonel Von Strohm and Lieutenant Gruber offer Rene a deal - they won't look for the missing gold if Renandeacute; recovers their statue from the General's chateau.
The Excelsior Quartet, a group of musicians hired to play at the chateau, are detained so that Renandeacute; and company can take their place. They manage to recover the contents of the statue.
