One Hundred Episodes for The 100
The 100 returns today on The CW, thankfully quite late in the season given that there's little else on currently, for its seventh and final season.
A firm favourite on the TV Calendar since its first season, the show has managed to escape its "Hunger Games"-esque original premise to stand alone, and despite it teetering on the edge of cancellation a few times, it regularly makes it on to "best sci-fi" lists.
If you've a long time fan, Season 7 has been a long time coming; but if you're in lockdown and looking for something to binge The 100 can deliver thrills and surprises beyond the scope of its summary. It's probably available on Netflix in your neck of the woods.
The series' universe (probably) isn't done with though; Episode 8 ('Anaconda') will serve as a backdoor pilot to a spin off prequel, set decades before the events of The 100, and will deal with the origin of The Grounders (descendants of the humans who survived the nuclear apocalypse 97 years ago). That show will rest on the reception of the "pilot", but show runners are fairly confident. How the pandemic will affect these plans remains to be seen.
Season 7 will have 16 episodes, bringing the total series count to... 100. It's like they planned it.
