COVID kills of the rest of The CWs 2020
Even though The CW line up starts later than other networks, this year its roster won't start until after what used to be the mid-season break. Staying true to the annoucement in May, the network will premiere 10 returning shows and 2 new starting between mid January and the end of February.
The CW hasn't been completely off air this fall, though it has relied on pick ups from other networks, and the remainder of the final season of Supernatural. Some start dates will surprise fans, most obviously The Flash, which returns at the very end of February, and as a lead in to the first episode of new Arrowerse stablemate Superman & Lois. This is likely a consequence of the SFX of the latter show taking time to finish.
The CWs 2021 will kick off with its variety shows Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Penn & Teller: Fool Us, which will make up a 2 hour block on a Friday. Both shows were originally set to air on Mondays. It's a crazy messed up world...
The following Tuesday will see the start of Trickster on the network. This is not a CW original however, and can be seen currently airing in Canada.
After Ruby Rose left Batwoman at the end of the first season, producers moved quickly to hire new talent, but it probably would have set the show back until mid season anyway. Ryan Wilder (actress Javicia Leslie) will take on Kate Kanes mantle, protecting Gotham from Tuesday 12th January.
All American keeps its 8pm slot on Mondays, returning January 18th for its third season.
Next up is teen night, as Riverdale (season 5) and Nancy Drew (season 2) can be found on Wednesday 20th January.
New show Walker (starring Supernatual alum Jared Padalecki) is a reboot of the eponymous Texas Ranger and premieres in the 8pm slot of Thursday January 21st, just before the season 3 opener of Legacies.
The Charmed sisters witch are back on Sunday 24th January, premiering a week later, but following an new episode of Batwoman.
Leaving only Arrowverse shows, Black Lightning leaves a 2 week gap, and only returns Monday 8th February, for season 4.
Then the big night of the return of The CWs new oldest scripted show, season 7 of The Flash strolls in to the 8pm slot of Tuesday 23rd February. This leads into the last-but-not-least brand new series of Superman & Lois.
