As the episode begins we see the girls meeting for the first time as they are picked up and driven around town in a bus, first impressions are made. Their first stop is an aircraft carrier docked in New York habor. Tyra imediately throws them in a stressful situation, they are to preform a fashion show without any prompting in front of a group of marines. They have thrity minutes to prepare make-up and get dressed in the correct clothes, which turns out to be confusing for April until Jenasica comes to her aid. Tyra remarks that is was a very poor start. The girls get settled at their loft and go out for a nice dinner at the Tavern on the Green. Camille was upset by the less then sophisicated behavior of some of the girls. The fashion shoot for the next day starts early and Jenascia is left behind when she slept through the alarm and no one woke her up. This upset the photographer, Nigel Barker, who is also a judge, and Jenasica, who vows revenge of some sort on the rest of the girls. The shoot is done in the nude with loads of body paint. Anna refuses to go nude and is tossed off the set by Nigel. At the elimination round, the judges look at the fashion show and photos of fashion shoot. Jenascia is told she is really too short and the lateness better never happen again. Anna is asked to explain her decision not to pose nude and gives a confusing answer to the judges. Anna is told to leave and waves good-bye as the girls yell out 'good-bye mamma', referencing her other life as a mother to a three-year-old boy.
