The loan officer for a local bank is found cuddled in his car. Harley and Sam investigate the case by asking questions of the players in a small theatre troupe, people at a mine that had a disaster recently, and other employees at the bank. Meanwhile, Dave struggles with Harley's new and exotic coffee maker.
An embarrassing public meltdown in Hollywood prompts Harley Carter, the star of America's No. 1 procedural TV show, to retreat to his small Ontario hometown to reconnect with his roots. Now that he's back, Harley wants to prove that he is more than a pretty face. But residents can't seem to see past his TV character and take him seriously, including his childhood friends Sam and Dave. So Harley taps into his acting experience to become an actual detective, partnering with police veteran Sam and street-smart, coffee truck owner Dave to solve real crimes, including the mystery of Harley's mother's disappearance years ago.
