Claire flees to the safety of the Western Isles after a direct threat to her life, and is convinced she is being watched. Norrie feels her presence endangers their daughter, and insists she return to Manchester to finish things once and for all. John also comes under pressure to crack the case before his misconduct review, and the two come up with a reckless plan that could cost them both dearly if they fail.

Claire Church, a former police officer, moves away to the remote Western Isles in an attempt to escape the past and violence that still haunts her.
