Jon's life ended up changing forever after he stepped on a land mine in Afghanistan and lost three limbs. His home before the accident was a crooked chocolate box Devon cottage. After endless viewings of uninspiring specialist dwellings and awkward conversions, Jon and his partner realised that the only way to get a house that would enable Jon to live independently was to build it from scratch themselves.
