Jack and Sarah are back in Hebburn to help Dot move out of her retirement village. Jack also has big news about a book deal and a big publishing advance. Ramsey attempts to woo Denise with the power of booze.
The red carpet is laid out for the visit of Sarah's parents, Ben and Susan from York. Pauline is immersing herself in Jewish culture using Google, to make sure everything is perfect. Ben and Susan are immersed in Geordie culture with Ramsey's help as well as with Vicky and Denise's choice of outfits for the fancy dress competition at Swayze's.
Dot buys Vicky a new car and comes close to driving her off a mental cliff. Sarah tries to give Jack advice on his interview technique as he attempts to find a new job at a newspaper away from Hebburn.
It's Jack's first day as Editor of the Hebburn Advertiser and he hopes that he can transform it into a bestselling paper that makes a difference. Vicki gets her heart broken after her boyfriend Gervaise announces his big plans. Joe's doctor informs him that he needs to relax to help his heart problems, and Pauline is on a mission to try and de-stress him.
It is the wedding day, again, for Jack and Sarah, and the bridesmaids are visions in Dot's choice of buttercup yellow. Pauline has been slaving away in the kitchen. Joe decides to give his son a pre-wedding pep talk, along with a gift that he hopes will bring him good luck. Sarah's parents only just making it to Hebburn in time and the rush to get to the church, leaves Pauline exasperated, Joe exhausted, and the wedding ending in a possible disaster.
