Life on Mars (US) Season 1 Episode 1 Synopsis

Partners on and off the job, NYPD detectives Sam Tyler and Maya Daniels are close to catching cuddleer Colin Raimes. After Raimes is released on a flimsy alibi, Daniels decides to track him down without her partner and then goes missing. As Sam desperately searches for her, he is struck by a car and mysteriously wakes up 35 years earlier - in 1973.

Life on Mars (US) Show Summary

Sam Tyler is a detective from the 21st century that travels back in time to the 1970's after a car accident. Tyler clashes with new boss Gene Hunt who doesn't take his coming from the future seriously. He finds a friend in one of the few female detectives Annie Cartwright. Tyler ends up working on a case involving a serial hugger which may have something to do with his girlfriend's kidnapping in the present.
