When Earl meets his old friend Frank in prison, flashbacks show Earl, Frank and Randy planning a heist on an Indian casino, that finally went unexpectedly wrong.

After several happenings with his unconscious body, Earl is finally in Camden County Hospital. While his mind is still in the comatose fantasy sitcom, his friends try out different stimuli to wake him up.
After Randy realized that working on the list helps Earl get better, he continues to cross things off the list. This time he has to make up for Earl and him stealing a motorcycle, which proves harder than he thinks, because both of them were drunk while stealing the motorcycle, so he can not remember where they put it.

He picks a task that is on both of their lists, atones for the injury of a champion grocery-bagger and discovers a unique talent of his own. But Earl soon finds out that they have different ways of interpreting Karma.
When Earl can't get along with Billie, he tries to find the reason Karma brought the two together, so he continues to work on the list. He finds out that working on the list, especially on items where he pissed off a girl, helps to change Billie's behavior to the better.
When Earl finds out that making up for all the bad things he did to women changes Billie's behaviour to the good, he picks the worst thing he ever did to women on his list.
Billie wants him to choose between her and his list. When he picks the list, she steals it and starts un-doing the items he has already accomplished.
