After a census taker comes to the house, the Alvarez family reflects on their relationships and wonder what else the future may (or may not) have in store.
The series centers on a Cuban-American family led by the mother, Penelope, a separated former military veteran raising a teenage daughter with progressive views and a son who is described as a socially inept tween. Penelope's mother, Lydia, helps her take care of the kids and the house chores.
