The Romans, in an effort to protect their homeland, seek the help of Thracian warrior Spartacus and his team of fighters. After a unhappy incident, Spartacus must enter the gladiator ring to face his punishment from the Romans.
Enslaved in gladitorial school, the newly christened Spartacus must try to suppress his desire for vengeance when his new master promises to reunite him with his wife.
After proving himself in training, Spartacus now dons the gladiator's attire, but his stubbornness, disobedience and longing for his wife isolates him from the rest of the gladiators.
Batiatus fears his life may be in danger if he does not repay his debts, but is still adamant that a profit can be made from Spartacus, despite his poor performance in the arena against Crixus, for this he is punished and forced to fight in the pits.

Numerius gains control over the gladiators as he celebrates his birthday.
Spartacus finds out about Varro's passing and has to come to terms with this unfortunate news. Meanwhile, Numerius and Batiatus search for Magistrate.
Batiatus and Lucretia expect the arrival of Glaber, while Spartacus plans for his revenge.
In order to get his revenge, Spartacus enlists the help of an accomplice.
