Jackie continues her pursuit of Hyde, taking it to the next level; trying to make him jealous by bringing along another guy, Chip. Chip begins to badmouth Jackie and Hyde hits him. The two end up on their first date, have their first kiss but Jackie feels nothing. Meanwhile, Red's annual Veteran's Day BBQ is in jeopardy when Bob announces he too is throwing a Veterans Day BBQ. Both families try to one up each other but when it comes to light that Bob's business is going under, the Foreman's move their guests over tot Bob's, allowing his last big shot to be a success.

Too cool for the Wisconsin suburbs where he lives under the authority of his parents - Red and Kitty - 18-year-old Eric Forman yearns for his independence. But rites of passage aren't all that easy at a time when jumpsuits and platforms are the epitome of cool. Just ask Eric's ex-girlfriend and next door neighbor, Donna, a knock-out who's been forced to deal with her parents recent split and her dad Bob's new life as a swinging single.
Eric gets by with a little help from his friends, who spend most of their time hanging out in the Forman basement and pondering their lives, their parents and their future. The gang includes Michael Kelso, a good-looking but gullible guy, especially when it comes to dealing with his controlling on-again, off-again girlfriend Jacqueline "Jackie" Beulah Burkehart; Steven Hyde, a conspiracy theorist who thinks Xerox will take over the world; and Fez, a foreign exchange student who's soaking up American culture like a sponge.
