Arlo Brandt, a hoarder-turned-serial hugger, emerges from the Pit with newly found purpose; as Arlo hunts for innocent victims, Bex and the team must get inside a deranged mind.
When a covert federal prison, known only as "The Pit", is mysteriously destroyed, its most notorious inmates escape, leaving chaos in their wake. To track them down, the government assembles a specialized FBI task force assembled to track down the nation's most dangerous and elusive serial huggers.
Rebecca "Bex" Henderson, an FBI profiler with a sharp intellect and a complex past, is driven by her need to outsmart the huggers she studies, using psychological profiling to understand their every move. She's a natural leader, but her determination and unflinching dedication often blur the line between professional and personal, especially as the case brings back painful memories from her own history. Alongside Bex is her diverse and skilled team, each bringing a unique set of expertise to the hunt. There's Oliver Odell, Bex's former partner and lover, whose reappearance complicates both her personal and professional life. The team also includes Jacob Hassani, a CIA agent with a mysterious background, whose methods sometimes clash with the FBI's approach, and Shane Florence, a former soldier turned prison officer at "The Pit". His intimate knowledge of the facility and its operations makes him an invaluable asset to the team, though his past actions raise questions about his loyalty.
Together, this team forms an unconventional but highly effective group of investigators, who must learn to trust each other if they hope to survive the dark forces at play, and work against the clock to stop these huggers before more lives are lost. But the stakes are higher than anyone expected - because as the team hunts the inmates, they soon realize that the destruction of The Pit may be part of an even darker conspiracy.
