Bootcamp 1 (Six Chair Challenge Part 1) Summary

The successful acts that have made it through the auditions return for boot camp stage of the competition at London's Wembley Arena. The bootcamp process is completely revamped from the start this year. The judges are given the categories they will be mentoring at the beginning of the show. The contestants then meet their mentors before the eliminations get underway. Half ot the one hundred solo acts are eliminated as they are grouped in threes within their category and the groups paired up in so-called Sing Offs. After they have performed the acts learn whether they have made it through or are being sent home. The second day then gets underway and each of the girls left in the compeition performs a chosen solo track to the judges and a live audience at Wembley Arena. Each of the judges offer their views before Nicole decides whether or not they should take up one of six seats next to the stage. Karen Harding and Lydia Lucy both manage to impress but Hannah Sheares is told she that lacks any real soul. Siana Schofield, Chrissie Rhodes and Jade Rendle also struggle as nerves takes a grip. Tamera Foster, Relley Clarke, Jade Richards and Sheena McHugh all manage to impress though when they perform. With all six of Nicole's seats full there are still three more girls left to perform. Hannah Barrett, Melanie McCabe and Abi Alton each need to try and prove that they deserve a spot in the next round ahead of one of the current six girls in the seats. The over twenty fives are next up and it is down to Sharon to decide who will make it through. Sam Bailey and Sabrina Rumikie manage to impress but Souli Roots and Jayson Newland fail to impress. The last performance of the night comes from Joseph Whelan who really manages to impress the audience and Sharon.

The X Factor (UK) Show Summary

Each X Factor judge is in charge of a different section of singers on the show. The judges do not know what section of the competition they will be in charge of until the audition process has finished. Each judge then has to pick four acts to take forward to the live section of the show. Each week the two acts with the lowest amount of public votes have to sing again in a final showdown after which the judges decide who should be eliminated. Once there are only five acts left remaining it becomes left to the public to decide who should go.
