The next set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to impress and make it through to the next stage of the competition. This week's guest judge is Pixie Lott when the auditions hit Cardiff. First up is 21 year old Kash who fails to impress the judges with his audition. After more dreadful auditions 55 year old Rob Burn manages to make it through. Next up is 16 year old Tom Richards, who leaves the judges torn in their decision whether he should make it through. After performing a second song Simon is not impressed. The judges remain split in their decision and Pixie ends up having the final say and decides not to put him through. Louis and the audience are able to get her to change her mind and Tom makes it through. Katie Smith, Lauren Francis and Lee Vaughan manage to impress all the judges and sail through to boot camp. The auditions then return to London where girl group Bun 'nd Cheese fail to impress the judges. Next up is 21 year old Italian Nicolo who manages to impress the judges for being different. Boyband FYD manage to impress as do Raquel Thomas, and Jo Beetlestone. Next up is Paije Richardson who manages to impress both Louis and the audience but not Cheryl and Simon and fails to make it through. Louis tries to convince the others to give him a second chance later in the day performing a different song. After the judges agree, Paije manages to impress and makes it through.
Each X Factor judge is in charge of a different section of singers on the show. The judges do not know what section of the competition they will be in charge of until the audition process has finished. Each judge then has to pick four acts to take forward to the live section of the show. Each week the two acts with the lowest amount of public votes have to sing again in a final showdown after which the judges decide who should be eliminated. Once there are only five acts left remaining it becomes left to the public to decide who should go.
