Chef Ramsay challenges the Red and Blue teams to create five beautiful steak dishes. Each team member selects one cut of meat and goes head-to-head with an opposing team member. The winning team earns a day in the sun and poolside pampering, while the losing team must prepare and butcher meat for dinner service. Later, dinner gets off to a rocky start when one diner finds an unpleasant surprise in her dish. Fed up with the lack of communication on both teams, Chef Ramsay sends the teams into deliberation, and tempers flare during another dramatic elimination round.

The "knockout rounds" continue with coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher's eight strongest team members remaining from the battle rounds. In this phase of the competition the coaches pit two of their own team members against each other, but this time they find out only minutes before performing who they are up against. The artists each select their own song to perform individually, while their direct competitor watches and waits. Their coach will choose the winner and that artist will proceed to the live shows.

Jeff calls in sick, leading to Seth to order everyone to stay away from Jeff's desk in any circumstance. But when he caught Bobby J. near Jeff's desk, polishing a ring for a customer, he almost fires him, only to rescind the dismissal when Bobby J. told Seth that Les gave him permission to polish the ring. This led to Seth's argument with Les, in which he said that the policy applies to everyone, leading to Les to determine that Seth had become more security-hungry following Joe's arrest, and Ashley wishing that both men stop the bickering.

Governor Meg Jackson is becoming increasingly suspicious about the ladies and their ways of bringing crystal meth into the gaol. Deputy Governor Vera Bennett makes Meg look incompetent towards lawyer, Erica Davidson. Jacs Holt is released from solitary and reignites her rivalry with Franky. After making up, Doreen leaves her daughter Kaiya with Bea during a riot caused by Jacs and Franky. When Kaiya runs off, Bea follows after her. After Matt Fletcher and Will Jackson - Meg's husband - break up the riot, they find a lifeless Meg lying in the hallway, stabbed with a blood-soaked Bea standing over her.
