As Phoebe's demonic unborn child continues to develop, The Seer sets her plan to steal the child into motion. She plans to raise the baby to be the new source, bypass Cole entirely, and prevent another demon from ever taking the throne of the underworld.

A visit from family members for each castaway brings them to tears. Neleh's mother, Rebecca, is first to reveal herself. Next comes Kathy's son Pat, followed by Robert's sister Diana, Sean's buddy Daryl, Vecepia's fianc Leander, and finally Paschal's wife Beverly.
Kathy's son Patrick joins the tribe for one day, but is short-lived when it comes time to plotting strategy.

An overdue Rachel will try anything to get the baby moving. Joey is ticked off when Chandler nods off during the screening of his new movie.

Grissom and his crew handle their highest profile case to date when the city's former chief of detectives is slain execution-style in his house following a wild party. Missing from the residence are the chief's trophy wife and their 7-year-old daughter. When several motorists report seeing the girl along an access road near Miami, Catherine and Warrick fly there and meet that city's top CSI, Horatio Caine, who aids them in the investigation.

When Will hears his 'biological clock' ticking, he shocks Grace by asking her to become the mother of his baby but when they meet with a therapist, Grace reveals that she's uneasy about the necessary sacrifices -- and makes a startling revelation. Inspired by Will's 'seize the day' quest, Jack and Karen are also moved to pursue their goals: for him, it's auditioning for a legitimate Broadway production, and for her, it's visiting her imprisoned husband for a dreaded conjugal visit.

Mark decides to use his remaining time to help "fix" Rachel; he takes her to Hawaii to show her where he grew up. He teaches her how to surf and how to drive a stick shift. He catches her chasing one of his Percocet with a shot of vodka and confronts her about wasting her life. One day after surfing he has a seizure, and Rachel contacts Elizabeth, who soon arrives with little Ella. Elizabeth wants to take Mark home, but he refuses. Very early one morning, he dies. After the funeral, Rachel tells Elizabeth she'd like to visit Ella, and Elizabeth agrees.
