Lorelai starts work on the Dragonfly Inn with no help from Taylor Doose. When Rory returns from Yale for the weekend, she finds out her ex-boyfriend, Dean, is getting married. However, after one too many drinks, Dean confesses to Luke that he still has feelings for Rory.

The NCIS team investigates when a seaman's body is found at the bottom of the sea in his dress whites, with a ceremonial sword. They discover that he was addicted to a Wizards and Warriors style role-playing game. Now, the team must figure out how involved he was in the game and how far he would go to get revenge on his arch enemy, another sailor.

Cheryl says a friend of hers got jewelry for his wife for no reason and Jim says he's probably cheating on her. After Cheryl takes it offensively that Jim won't buy her jewelry because he doesn't think he has to after all, they are married and he isn't cheating he goes out to shop for earrings, only to find out he knows nothing about Cheryl. After spending three days dedicating himself entirely to paying attention to Cheryl with a bit of Andy's help Jim finds out that Cheryl's friend was indeed cheating and they finally make up.

Haley is apprehensive when Lucas decides to go with the team to an after-party at Nathan's beach house. When Lucas sees the wealth that was denied him, he finally confronts his mother about why she let Dan ignore them. Meanwhile, Nathan's mom turns to Karen for advice and Peyton and Nathan grow further apart.

Roz tries to convince Frasier to go out with her friend Ann. She feels that Frasier is too particular about who he dates, and adds that there is nothing wrong with continuing to date around until the right person comes along. Frasier is reluctant, but soon grows tired of tagging along with Niles and Daphne and Martin and Ronee or hanging around the apartment alone. He agrees to a date with Ann, which proves to be a disaster. In the middle of the evening, he runs into Kenny, who is trying to persuade his beautiful and interesting cousin, Liz, to take a job in Seattle. Liz is leaving town the next day, so Frasier tries to ditch Ann so that he can spend time with her. Meanwhile, Niles and Daphne suspect that their maid is stealing from them.

Investigating the brutal rape and murder of an undercover federal agent and forced to use discretion in order to protect the identities of those agents in the field, the detectives arrest a suspect highly connected with a Colombian drug cartel. As the case proceeds towards trial, Cabot is faced with death threats on herself and her family along with pressure to yield the case to federal authorities.

Sean and Christian are reunited with an old friend, Julia bonds with Sofia Lopez, and Christian and Gina clash over their differences in opinion concerning Gina's pregnancy.
