The teams set off from their Pit Stop in Huntsville and receive a clue telling them to drive one hundred miles to Anniston, Alabama and locate the world's largest office chair. The next clue sends them to the Alabama Motorsports Hall of Fame and once there, they receive another directing them to the Talladega Super-Speedway where they'll have to complete a lap around the track. Once they get there, they find that they're not racing cars but instead traveling in a multi-person vehicle known as a party bike. After completing this task, they travel 260 miles to Hattiesburg, Mississippi and find the Southern Colonel trailer home dealership and spend the night in one of the trailer homes. The next morning, they depart at one of three departure times pulled the night before --- 7:20 A.M., 7:40 A.M. or 8:00 A.M. and travel 84 miles to Richland, Mississippi, find a BP station and meet a man named Les. They then make their way to the Pelican State, Louisiana, and participate in a Detour --- Work or Play, which requires them to either use a two-man saw to cut four 12-inch slices off a log, or travel to a riverboat casino and win three hands of 21 as a family. The teams are then finally directed to the Pit Stop, the Preservation Hall in New Orleans, where one team is eliminated after making a critical mistake.

Richard tries to get information from Logan about Rory's future plans, but Logan mistakenly thinks that Richard is asking when the two of them plan to marry. Lorelai is in favor of Taylor's plan to change all the Stars Hollow street names back to their original historic names, until she learns that the street where the Dragonfly Inn is located was once known by a disgusting name. Rory makes a surprising confession to Logan. Richard finally faces the fact that he should never have let Rory drop out of Yale, and shows up at Lorelai's house to talk things over.

Earl decides to teach English as a second language to cross "Made fun of people with accents" off his karma list. While Ralph, an old friend, is released from prison, Earl tries to convince him in the ways of karma. However, Ralph ends up kidnapping Randy trying to get his hands on Earl's lotto winnings.

When a non-commissioned officer is shot to death on the freeway, the NCIS team takes upon the investigation. The first lead, a fact that the victim was leading a double life, takes them to a possible solution of the crime, but the tables are turned when the victim's dying message is discovered and it leads them to a totally different clue.

Cheryl, upset that Jim thinks her daily anecdotes are boring, steals Dana's story about meeting Oprah. Jim, now determined to out-do Cheryl, makes up a story about his construction office catching fire. But when Cheryl take the kids to see the damage, Jim and Andy, who are scrambling to make it look authentic, end up setting a real fire.

While everyone else in the office enjoys the spooky Halloween festivities and talks about the staff's costumes, Michael ponders who he should fire when the threat of downsizing becomes a reality and his boss orders him to fire one of his staff. Meanwhile, Jim and Pam put Dwight's resume on job-searching websites, which may make Michael's job a little easier, and Pam encourages Jim to set his goals higher by applying for a better job, which makes Jim consider his friendship with Pam.

Sam's friend, Zach, is accused of murder. Sam offers to help out by checking up on his sister, Rebecca. Rebecca claims her brother could not have committed the murder because he was with her at the time of the murder. But all the physical evidence points to Zach being at the scene of the crime. Could Zach have been at two places at the same time?.

Mike goes to South Carolina and learns about shrimping. He also helps study the shrimp population in order to find out when it's time to open the shrimping season.
He then goes to the swamps of Louisiana to catch some crawfish.

All eyes are on Mackenzie Allen as she hosts her first official summit with the Russian President - which is threatened to be overshadowed by Nathan Templeton's plan to engineer a series of cabinet resignations to coincide with the summit. Meanwhile, as First Gentleman, Rod must host his first state dinner for the Russian President and his wife.

The discovery of the bodies of two young gay men who were both meth addicts as well as victims of a new strain of AIDS that can kill its victims in less than a year leads to an investigation. Tutuola learns that his son, Ken, is gay, and has difficulty accepting it, even though he and Benson end up going to Ken for help with infiltrating an anti-meth group. The group's leader, Gabriel, soon becomes their top suspect when the squad realises that the two men died because they passed the disease on.
