Matt, Lucy, Simon and Ruthie are banished to the garage apartment after protesting to Annie's decision to give the place to Mary, but then the roommates begin voting each member vies for sole ownership, just like the TV show "Survivor". Meanwhile, Eric and Annie are not seeing eye-to-eye on Mary's situation as she is now returning home and is wondering on what's next in her life. Elsewhere, Robbie is nervous about meeting his new girlfriend's parents - especially her father when he must show that he is serious about his relationship with his girlfriend Joy.

Reggie makes a special 'connection' with her friend's, Sara, husband. While cleaning out the Heffernan freezer, Carrie comes across the top tier of her and Doug's wedding cake, and reflects back to the time when they got married. As she takes a trip down memory lane, Carrie remembers her uneasiness prior to their wedding day and her desperation in needing a sign from God to be sure about the marriage. The priest calms Carrie's insecurity by informing her that she and Doug actually met years before when they were kids. Carrie feels that that's a "sign" from above, but Doug later learns that it was Danny, his cousin, whom she met, not him, and is afraid to tell her the truth.

Jack searches for the the magical jewel the Woolies told him would be able to send him back in time. Locating the last survivor of the race who can reveal its location, Jack learns of how to find the jewel, and meets up with a woman questing for the same jewel. They journey through the desert together, but will they be able to share the jewel if they find it?

Janice Taylor wants to proceed with another round of IVF treatment immediately, but Alistair is not so sure. Chrissie Williams offers him a shoulder to cry on over a drink, but it leads to somewhat more. Samantha Kennedy gets badly involved with an anorexic heart patient and her over-protective mother. Janice has to tell Danny Shaughnessy not to take too much pity on a struggling single mother, but he is also becoming increasingly involved with Marija's attempt to evade the authorities.
