Lorelai and Sookie are thrilled when author Norman Mailer and a young reporter show up repeatedly in the dining room of the Dragonfly Inn, but Sookie's awe turns to annoyance when Mailer refuses to order any food. Working on a story for the Yale newspaper, Rory uncovers evidence of an intriguing secret society to which Logan belongs. Meanwhile, when Rory's father, Christopher, appeals to Lorelai for help after his girlfriend leaves him to raise their baby daughter by himself, Rory orders him to leave Lorelai alone. Finally, Sookie realizes that she is pregnant again.

After a tough elimination, the Blue Team gets back into the game on the second challenge, a bake-off which will determine the winner of a luxorious spa visit. The catch is that if any player takes a taste of anything they bake, 50 percent of all profits their team made is not counted. At the end of the task, the Red Team pulled through, making $362, edging out the Blue Team's $245. More importantly, the player's will power held strong, and no one took a lick of any food. At an emotional weigh-in, where neither Maurice, Lizzeth, Dave or Matt lose any weight, the Red Team is sent to the elimination ceremony, where Lizzeth is sent packing.

Kyle wants to be Cinderella for Halloween. Jim is against it because he thinks he's growing up to be a sissy. Jim buys Kyle a manly costume (a dinosaur) but Kyle changes back into the dress. Jim, Andy, and Kyle all sit on the couch, Jim and Kyle persistent. Jim goes in the kitchen, sees an older Kyle who convinces Jim to let Kyle go as Cinderella. In the end, they all go as ladies and they trick-or-treat.

A missing teenager found beaten and tied up in a college dormitory under construction claims that she was raped by three students, but as the investigation proceeds and information obtained by the police and the press causes her story to unravel quickly, the girl recants. Since Benson remains convinced that a rape did occur, the focus of the investigation shifts to the girl's overly-protective stepfather who has resisted the investigation from its onset. When the girl finally tells the truth about the attack, it becomes apparent that her lies were calculated to protect her innocent stepfather from physical and financial ruin, because the girl says her father's boss raped her. After the girl says who attacked her a previous victim comes forward and says that she had the same attacker.
