After learning that he may be the father to Sandy's (Haylie Duff) unborn child, Martin (Tyler Hoechlin) is left feeling very confused, while Simon (David Gallagher) can't help but feel responsible for Martin's dilemma because he introduced the two. Meanwhile, when Kevin (George Stults) is caught in the line of fire while on duty, he decides that it would be for the best to quit the police force and become a stay-at-home dad. This surprises Lucy (Beverley Mitchell), who is at risk of losing her own job as the Associate Pastor when church elders approach Eric (Stephen Collins) about removing her from the position.

The oceanologists, Rich and Laura, see the dead body of a new, groundbreaking sea creature washed up on the beach. A team of researchers meet up with the creature and the same time as them, and Rich and Laura, along with the dead creature, are brought to a lab. Rich and Laura face an interrogation and questioning, while the researchers prepare for a possible autopsy on the creature, which is clearly a new breed.
Meanwhile, Miles tries to control Nimrod at a big party thrown by his sister. Nimrod just wants to get in on the action, but unfortunately, that's out of the question.

Hank confides his possibly psychic dreams to Wanda, who isn't 100% sure that he's not psychic; when his dreams involve her, Wanda becomes a believer. Cooper and Skip defend a young African-American man who has been wrongly accused of robbery and murder because of his race and the fact that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. When Skip uses a tactic he learned in law school to show that a witness cannot distinguish the defendant's photo from those of other black men, the prosecution presents a witness that catches them off guard. Meanwhile, Cooper gives manslaughter convict Dulcinea "Dee" Real a job as his receptionist to fulfill her parole agreement and Skip runs into his law school crush, Kate Manat, who is now working for the powerful law firm that wouldn't hire him. Zaraki Kenpachi, captain of the 11th squad, is running though the Soul Society with Orihime and Yachiru on his back. They come crashing through the ceiling of the prison cell that holds Ishida, Chad and Ganju and free them. After getting lost agian in the Soul Society, Zaraki runs into Captain Tousen and Captain Komamura and their vice capitains. Tousen asks Zaraki why he is helping the ryoka and instead of answering him, Zaraki challenges them to a fight. Meanwhile back in the cavern, Renji finishes his training and asks Yoruichi if Ichigo can achieve Ban Kai in time.
