Stardate: 45761.3 When the stasis field she was being transported in is broken, Capt. Picard unfortunately becomes the imprint for a female empathic metamorph destined to be mate of another world leader, in hopes of resolving a long interplanetary war. The empathic metamorph is nearing the final stages of a permanent imprint, which will bond her forever to her mate. Picard's strength of character and resolve are tested as she places her inherent talents into focus on him.

Two burglars named Beggs and Clark steal some jewelry. When they are going to escape on their motorcycles, Clark falls and is forced to leave the jewelry under tower 12. The next day, they return, only to find out that the jewellery is missing. After a walk down the beach, they find out that the towers are being moved sometimes.

Murphy's doctor advises her to take Lamaze classes, and even though Murphy thinks it's not really necessary, she agrees. The problem is that Murphy has to find a partner for that. Frank is her first choice, but he won't be able to make it, because he has to go on location for a story. Murphy then goes after Jim, but only the thought makes him very embarassed and uncomfortable. Miles can't do it either for the same reason. Corky offers to, but Murphy doesn't think it's a good idea.
