With L.A. abandoned and the families aboard Abigail, everyone tries to adjust to their new environment out on the sea, but no one quite trusts Strand. As Nick has a hard time with his mother's passing, Alicia manages to make radio contact with another soul taking refuge on the open waters.
Being tailed by whoever sunk the boat they found, Abigail parks along the coast. There, the group finds a family of survivalists who have secured themselves against the cataclysm. While they're friendly and allow them the safe port, small things paint something unsettling under the surface.
Abigail is dead in the water due to engine problems. While Travis fixes it, Madison confronts Stand about the destination he's been keeping secret. Meanwhile, the others go to the nearby shore to scavenge what they might need from the remains of a crashed plane.
When Abigail is boarded by a small band of dangerous people, Strand attempts to get away. Unbeknownst to the others, Nick has journeyed to the mainland on a mission for Strand that links to his past which will help them get into Mexico.
Held captive by Connor and his people, Alicia learns how to make herself useful while plotting an escape, as Travis learns how Abigail was found. Meanwhile, Madison is taking the ship to Connor with the intent of getting her family back.
