The first set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to impress and make it through to the next stage of the competition. Geri Halliwell is a guest judge on the show as the first set of auditions come from Glasgow. 41 year old Stephen ?Disco Inferno' Hunter manages to impress the judges and becomes the first person through to boot camp. Diva Features and others fail to impress the judges though and are sent home. Gamuchirai Nhengu manages to impress all the judges though and sails through to boot camp. Peter and Caroline, aka G and S fail to make it though but after Caroline returns as a solo performer she makes it though to the next stage of the competition. Others to impress and make it through when the auditions move onto London include Katie Waissel and Shirlina Johnson. Jahm are not so lucky though and Simon says they are the worse group to have ever auditioned for the show.
This week's guest judge is Katy Perry. The auditions start in Dublin where group Temple Fire fail to impress the judges. After more dreadful auditions Stephen Concannon and Sadbh O'Donnell manage to make it through after impressing all the judges except Simon. When 18 year old Rebecca Creighton performs though she manages to impress all the judges and sales through to the next stage of the competition. 50 year old Mary Byrne also manages to impress both the judges and audience and makes it through to the next stage of the competition. The judges are then subjected to more awful auditions when the auditions return to London. Boy band Reason manage to impress the judges though with their version of one of Cheryl's songs and make it through. Anastasia Baker who made it through to the judges house's two years ago returns to give it another shot. Simon isn't impressed by her though and asks her to sing another song. After performing again all the judges decide to put her through.
The auditions begin in London where several sets of twins make it through to boot camp. When Samir and Mehi who are twin brothers from France perform though they fail to impress Simon but Cheryl and Louis decide to put them through. Storm Lee manages to impress the judges with his voice but Simon tells him if he wants to be taken seriously he should use his real name. Simon isn't impressed with the first song he performs and asks him to perform another without all the gimmicks. Even though Simon despite his misgivings decides to put him through. Others to impress in London include Ruth Anne St Luce and John Adeleye. This week's guest judge is Natalie Imbruglia and she joins the team when the auditions move onto Birmingham. Liam Payne who at just 14 made it through to the judges' house two years ago returns hoping to make it to the finals this time around. Pattie Eleode is not so successful though when she fails to impress the judges. Cher Lloyd manages to impress though and sails through to boot camp. Others to impress in Birmingham include Kerri Arindel, Justin Vanderhyde and Treyc Cohen who made it through to to the judges houses last year. Abbey Johnstone and Lisa Parker have a major falling out after Simon tells them that their performance was the worst audition in history.

This week's guest judge is Pixie Lott when the auditions hit Cardiff. First up is 21 year old Kash who fails to impress the judges with his audition. After more dreadful auditions 55 year old Rob Burn manages to make it through. Next up is 16 year old Tom Richards, who leaves the judges torn in their decision whether he should make it through. After performing a second song Simon is not impressed. The judges remain split in their decision and Pixie ends up having the final say and decides not to put him through. Louis and the audience are able to get her to change her mind and Tom makes it through. Katie Smith, Lauren Francis and Lee Vaughan manage to impress all the judges and sail through to boot camp. The auditions then return to London where girl group Bun 'nd Cheese fail to impress the judges. Next up is 21 year old Italian Nicolo who manages to impress the judges for being different. Boyband FYD manage to impress as do Raquel Thomas, and Jo Beetlestone. Next up is Paije Richardson who manages to impress both Louis and the audience but not Cheryl and Simon and fails to make it through. Louis tries to convince the others to give him a second chance later in the day performing a different song. After the judges agree, Paije manages to impress and makes it through.
This week's guest judge is Nicole Scherzinger as the auditions come from Manchester. First to audition is 44-year-old Rachel Chu who fails to impress the judges. Aiden Grimshaw fairs much better though and manages to sail through to the next stage of the competition. Others to impress include The Huhas, Olelade Bahdmus and John Wilding. Next up to perform in front of the judges is 69-year-old Hazel Jackson with her rendition of Simply The Best. She manages to impress Nicole but not the other judges and fails to make it through. Yuli Minguel manages to impress all the judges though with her voice and makes it through to boot camp. Chloe Victoria has the judges split in their decision but still manages to make it through much to Louis' shock. Young mother of two, Rebecca Ferguson manages to impress all three judges with her voice and makes it through.
The final set of hopefuls audition in front of the judges hoping to impress and make it through to the next stage of the competition. The auditions come from Manchester once again. First up is Damien Devine who fails to impress the judges with his vocal performance of Poker Face. After more dreadful auditions thing improve when Tobias Sumpton performs in front of the judges. Tobias manages to make it through to boot camp. Ramena Fahari, Chrissie Pitt, Karl Brown and Charlene Dawson also manage to impress all the judges and make it through. Next up is 16 year old Harry Styles who manages to impress both Nicole and Simon but not Louis. Simon isn't happy with Louis. Louis' mood doesn't improve when he says no to more auditionees. Diva Fever are next to perform but Simon isn't impressed with their song choice. Their second song goes down much better and they manage to get Nicole dancing as well and gain a place at boot camp. Next up is 28 year old club singer Richard Thomas who is devastated after he fails to make it through. Last up in Marlon McKenzie who fairs much better and gains the last place at boot camp.
The first of this weekend's bootcamp double bill, as the cream of the crop from the nationwide auditions head to London. Over 200 acts will be tested to the limit at Wembley Arena in the biggest bootcamp ever. They will face choreography, vocal coaching and styling sessions as they try to stand out from the crowd. Those that make it through the first challenges will get to perform centre stage in front of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and guest judge and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. Host Dermot O'Leary will be there at every step of the way as we find out who makes it through and who heads home.
The remaining hopefuls have one last to impress before the judges decide who will make it through to the judges houses stage of the competition. The judges decide to change the over 25s to over 28s. Eight acts are also sent to the judges housemates this year instead of the usual six. The 32 hopefuls are revealed who have made it through to the judges houses stages of the competition. Four of the rejected girls and five of the rejected boys are then called back and are told that they are going to form two separate groups. The judges learn which section of the competition they will be mentoring.

Each of the judges has to select one act they have rejected at the judges houses stage of the competition and give them a second change as the final twelve becomes the final sixteen. At the end of the show the phone lines are opened for tonight's public vote and Dermot announces that two acts will be eliminated from the competition tomorrow.

The cast from the hit series Glee and the Black Eyed Peas also perform. Dermot announces who has made the final leaving Cher and Mary in the bottom two and having to perform again in tonight's final showdown. The judges then decide to save Cher leaving Mary eliminated from the competition.
The four finalists have to perform two times tonight with one of the performances being a duet with a famous name. All of the sixteen finalists perform together on stage the song Flashdance. The judges give their verdicts on what they have heard after each of the acts perform live on stage. Rihanna and Christina Aguilera also perform. At the end of the show the phone lines are frozen and Dermot reveals that Rebecca, One Direction and Matt have made it through to tomorrow's show leaving Cher eliminated from the competition. The phone lines are then reopened.
One Direction, Matt and Rebecca perform live on stage together and are joined by Take That. They the perform once more individually before the phone lines are frozen once more. Some of the acts who failed to make it through the auditions return to perform live on stage together. Dermot announces that Matt and Rebecca have the most amount of votes and that One Direction are eliminated from the competition in third place. Matt and Rebecca then perform once again the song they will release should they win the final. Take That perform live on stage before the phone lines are closed for the last time. Dermot then announces that Matt has been crowned this year's winner. Matt performs the winner's song one last time and is joined on stage by all of the other finalists.
