A battle of wits and wills ensues between the boys and their angry mom, who wants to find out who ruined her expensive new red dress - found partially burned and soaking in the toilet. It's Hal and Lois's wedding anniversary (hence the dress); and while the boys fend off their mother, with the long-distance assistance of Francis, a lonely and increasingly sozzled Hal bonds with the staff of the restaurant where he booked a table for the big night. Lois finally achieves an epiphany on the phone with Francis, who convinces her to for once "let something go". After she leaves for the restaurant, with the boys in tow, Hal arrives home to an empty house - and we learn the truth about what happened to the red dress.

Remember "Homer Goes to College?" Well, Homer visits his college for old times' sake and reunites with the old nerds. He organizes a prank, but somehow ends up with a bucket stuck on his head. Nothing will get it off, so the Simpson family goes to a faith healer. While there, Brother Faith has Bart pull it off. Bart sees the potential of being a faith healer, so he starts performing miracles of his own. After a while, he forms his own church; but after a miracle performed on Milhouse goes horribly wrong, he realizes that he should quit. Meanwhile, Homer has to build a homecoming float for Springfield University. The family goes to the big homecoming football game. Everyone roots for the star player, a kicker. Until a drunken Homer drives the float onto the field and runs over his leg. Fat Tony threatens Homer with an ice pick, but Homer gets Bart to perform another miracle on the leg. With a taped-up leg, the kicker attempts a big field goal. In doing it, his lower leg breaks off and kicks the ball again in mid-air. The kick is good!

The rodeo comes to town. Joseph finds his calling and becomes a successful young cowboy star. Bobby also falls in love with the rodeo, and joins in the fun . . . as a clown. He doesn't tell Hank, until he is called upon to save Joseph, who had turned on Bobby, calling him the joke of the rodeo.

Tony assumes the role of boss of the family after Junior is indicted on 12 RICO counts. Christopher begins selling phony stocks to senior citizens after getting a brokerage license from the SEC by paying someone else to take the test for him. Pussy is discovered alive and has a meeting with Tony. Meanwhile, Livia is still recovering from her stroke which brings Tony's older sister Janice in from Seattle and Carmela wants Tony to go back to therapy, the only problem is that Dr. Melfi does not want anything to do with him and will not refer him to another psychiatrist.
