Paige has unresolved guilt issues over her role in the death of her adoptive parents, so Leo takes her back in time to relive the events leading up to the accident that killed them. Elsewhere, Phoebe and Cole are possessed by the spirit of two 1950's outlaws, and Piper must stop them before the ghosts get married using their bodies.

The survivors discuss how their lives have changed since returning to the United States.

Ross and Rachel discuss possible names for the baby, and then argue over whether they should find out the sex of the baby. Monica talks Chandler into taking a bubble bath, and he likes it so much that he starts taking them all the time. Joey tries to have a serious conversation about 'the rules' with Chandler and Monica, which makes them think that he wants to do what they did... with Phoebe.

Grissom's nemesis, serial killer Paul Millander (Matt O'Toole), reappears and claims a third victim in this gripping episode. The latest slaying matches Millander's previous killings in that it recreates his father's murder, which Millander witnessed as a boy. In each case, the victim is shot once through the chest while lying in a bathtub. A nearby tape recorder contains the person's supposed suicide message. All three victims share the same birthday of Aug. 17---the date Millander's father was slain---with the years in descending order from 1959. So presumably, the killer's next target was born Aug. 17, 1956...which just happens to be Grissom's birthday.

Brian falls in love with a bitter old woman who he is forced to do community service for. Meanwhile, Peter grows a beard and finds a family of swallows have built a nest in it.

While visiting Karen's incarcerated husband, Grace re-discovers a handsome high school friend who's also doing time in prison, and despite Will's advice, she's soon dressing up and visiting the inmate while dreaming of a life together outside the Big House. Conversely, a sympathetic Rosario chides Karen for not standing by her man -- and bets her boozy boss that she and pal Jack cannot stay penned-up together in the same room for three days without harming each other.

Chen returns to the hospital with proof of Weaver's misplaced pager and demands her job back, threatening a lawsuit. Weaver disapproves of the idea, but Romano forces her to do it. As her colleagues watch, Sandy Lopez plants a kiss on Weaver, effectively outing her. Carter attempts to mediate between his bickering parents. Mark and Elizabeth's opinions on Rachel's future differ, but Mark decides to keep her in Chicago for the time being. Abby attempts to mediate between her fighting neighbors after Brian beats up Joyce. Lewis treats a death row inmate who wants a DNR order.
