Simon decides to stand up for bullied student, Mick at school, only to have the boy tell him that he is going to shoot his tormentors. Meanwhile, Robbie decides to give Ruthie a playful new nickname ("Snooky"), but at the same time Ruthie comes up with a less-pleasant one for Lucy ("Lady Liberty") after breaking off her engagement to Jeremy in New York. Also, Eric gets a visit from an old female friend, Merle, with some family issues of her own. Lastly, Mary gets serious with pursuing the career as a firefighter, but things don't turn out the way she had planned.

Trance gets Beka and Dylan to medbay, while Rev goes to see a man about his god and Tyr and Harper are injected with Magog eggs and tied up. Dylan and the Andromeda avatar go down to get Tyr and Harper, leaving Beka behind with orders to use a nova bomb to detonate the "bound" planets' sun in three hours. Meanwhile Rev meets with Bloodmist, and begins to give into his bestial nature. The two of them confront the Magog "god", which seems to convince Rev to kill his friends. Bloodmist takes him to Tyr and Harper, but its a trick and Rev kills Bloodmist. Dylan and Andromeda are overwhelmed when Beka launches the nova bomb, but the Magog "god" manages to absorb all the energy. The distraction gives them time to free Tyr and Harper and get out of there. Trance manages to remove Tyr's spider eggs, but the procedure would kill Harper. At the end of last season, John was thrown in jail for contempt of court during a malpractice case. Tonight, he's released after reluctantly apologizing to a judge, who orders him to see a therapist and work on his problem with authority. However, the therapist, Katherine Simmons, is dealing with her own authority issues, which John winds up 'helping' her work out. Becker is shocked one night when she shows up at his apartment a changed woman. Elsewhere, Jake grows weary of his new girlfriend's annoying habit of describing for him every little thing she's doing; and Linda lobbies for a raise.

Cordelia receives physical abuse from her recent visions when Wolfram & Hart allows a demon to make her visions harm her. To have this reversed, Angel is forced to rescue a man being tortured by the Powers That Be.

Without an apartment yet, Jordan is sleeping at the Medical Examiner's office because she is still uncomfortable with Evelyn living with her father. When Dr. Grace Yakura calls a staff meeting and Jordan gets snubbed without being assigned a case, Dr. Yakura makes it clear that she does not approve of how Jordan is representing the Medical Examiner's office and is watching Jordan very closely. Garrett hands Jordan a fresh case when a cab driver is shot and killed in his car, while Garrett works on a case of a jogger bludgeoned to death. When Garrett finds the cab driver's license plate imprinted on the dead man's skin, Jordan and Garrett have to figure out how their two cases are connected. Meanwhile Trey is assigned an old case of a John Doe that needs indentifying, endearingly dubbed Mr. Stinky, with the help of Bug and Nigel, they work feverishly to meet Dr. Yakura's deadline. Garrett brings in his Victrola, a very old gramophone, into his office to play his 1920's jazz, he is surprised to learn that Lily shares his passion. This makes him a little more comfortable with her flirtatious attitude around him. Tempers flare when Jordan joins her father and Evelyn for dinner, and she confronts Evelyn about throwing out her mother's clothes. When Jordan seeks her father's help with the case, she has to come to terms with Evelyn being a part of his life and decide if she can accept it.

Doug thinks he has come up with the perfect birthday gift for Carrie: laser eye surgery. That is until Carrie ends up nearly blind from the operation.
