Reese is accused of stealing by his devious boss when he takes a job flipping burgers to pay for his car insurance. Malcolm is disgruntled when a genius joins his class, and Dewey must prove he can keep a goldfish alive before he gets the chance to own a puppy.

The family goes to the library's used book sale; where Homer obtains a copy of Duff's Book of World Records. When he's gone through all the records, he decides to set one of his own. Duff tells him that all the personal records have been set. He needs to help set a group record. The town tries to set a record for the world's tallest human pyramid; but when they fail, they inadvertently set the record as the world's fattest town, which they celebrate. Only Marge has a problem with this. She goes to the Motherloving Sugar Company to lodge her complaint. The owner Garth Motherloving is less than cooperative, so Marge files a class action lawsuit. Professor Frink blows the whistle on "big sugar" and the court rules in Marge's favor and then bans all sugar from Springfield forever. All the town's sugar products are burned and Apu's store shelves are empty. Apu brings Homer into a group determined to smuggle sugar back into Springfield. Homer and Bart join with Apu, Mr. Burns, Count Fudgula and Garth Mothelovering in a scheme to smuggle in sugar from the island of San Glucose. They make it into Springfield Harbor, but are intercepted by the police. Evading Wiggum and Co., Homer finds himself faced with the decision to either "Dump Cargo" to make Marge happy or "Obey Bad Guy" and bring sugar to Springfield. He chooses the former, but Judge Snyder realizes that he's overstepped his authority and makes sugar legal once again.

When former SD-6 agent, McKenas Cole takes over SD-6, Sydney and Jack must work together to save their co-workers and Sloane. Meanwhile, Will begins to fear his decision of looking into SD-6.

When asked when she was getting married, Carrie reflects on the purpose and meaning of getting married. Miranda, after faking an ultrasound - she doesn't get it why she has to cheer with everyone the fact that she's having a boy - takes Carrie to try on ugly wedding dresses in a weird shock therapy to exorcise her fears away. But Carrie has a freak allergic reaction to the dress, which makes her feel negative about the whole thing. She asks Aidan for some time, but he won't give it to her. She realizes he still doesn't trust her and despite their mutual love, the wedding is just something to give him confidence on her. He moves out the next day. Meanwhile, Charlotte freaks out on tap dancing class and Samantha has her first monogamy attack - something she never thought she could - after finding out Richard is sleeping around.

Ted's favorite author is in town, while Michael tries to reconnect with Brian.

After recovering from his shank wound, Alvarez gains a follower. Busmalis starts a letter writing campaign to get 'Miss Sally's Schoolhouse' back on the air. Rebadow finds a way to raise the money for his grandson's treatment. Jia Kenmin returns to Oz after recovering from the coma induced by a blow from Cyril. After Schillinger's released, Redding and Morales form a pact to eliminate the Italians from the drug trade. Schibetta makes a move on the Aryans only it backfires with terrifying results. Kirk continues planning ways to kill Cloutier. After carrying out messages he 'received' from Cloutier, Hoyt confesses to all his past murders. Cloutier makes a move that mystifies everyone.
