A secret shopper evaluation leads Lois to make dramatic changes to her personal appearance and in the process causes some unintended consequences. Meanwhile, the boys engineer a way to finally beat Hal at basketball and Francis becomes Alaska's premier rat catcher.

The family watches the gay pride parade and then goes to the movies. Homer loudly protests the fact that the movie hasn't started, due to the length of ads and previews. When the ushers chase him out of the theatre, Homer runs straight into the glove of a statue of fighter, Drederick Tatum, and breaks his jaw. With his mouth wired shut and nothing else to do, Homer becomes a great listener and even a respectable member of society, which delights Marge. After his jaw has healed, Homer continues to be everything he never was before. On Afternoon YAK he promises to not revive his "weckless, weckless ways". Weeks later Marge realizes that their life has become dull, so she enters the family car in a demolition derby and soon finds herself in trouble. In a sequence reminiscent of the "Popeye" cartoons, Homer sucks down a can of Duff and comes to her rescue.

Agent Reyes takes the lead while investigating an X-file case, surrounding a man found skinned alive after having visions of seeing other people appearing skinned alive. Reyes calls on Scully's expertise to help on the investigation, which pays off when Scully finds a link to a case from 1960.

When the father of a young woman who had been clubbing all night is found dead in his boat house, Goren and Eames investigate the mysterious club owner only to realize he is an undercover FBI agent and the Bureau will not risk its undercover operation even to stop a killer.

Jimmy and Spinner receive detention with Mrs. Kwan. At the end of the day, the two trouble-makers decide to go and cause trouble to Mrs. Kwan. When she is teaching English-as-a-second-language course to adults, they make a prank phone call that Mrs. Kwan wants to order a number of pizzas. Then when she is ready to leave, she finds that her van was vandalised. This was the work of Jimmy and Spinner. Soon, when Kwan is missing the next day for class, they discover that she was under a lot of pressure, especially when her husband was ill. Meanwhile, Emma and Sean finally accept each other's offer on going on their first date. When Sean arrives, things start going horribly wrong. Charlotte ends up giving her her wedding ring so that Carrie can use it as collateral to get her loan.
