Jamie's babysitter asks Malcolm to do a small job for her. He accepts without knowing that this "task" involves messing up with Jamie's babysitter ex-boyfriend and a huge family problem. Meanwhile, Dewey's new friend leaves him and befriends Reese while Francis encourages Otto to face an old enemy who almost stole Gretchen from him.

Trying to help change the Bluth family reputation, Michael hires a publicist that he met at his gym. Meanwhile, Tobias heads east to Boston in order to get his medical license.

Phoebe's boyfriend Jason sees the sisters using their powers, freaks out, and dumps Phoebe. Richard Montana casts a spell to try and rid himself of his family's negative karma, but accidentally sends evil spirits into Phoebe's body, leading a possessed Phoebe to try to kill Jason. Elsewhere, Piper and Paige try to vanquish what Chris tells them are the last significant demonic threats to Wyatt's future.

Homer compromises the power plant's security system and as a result gets fired. Marge and the kids go to a bookstore and while there she sits in a on a book reading and then asks the author if anyone can write a book. The answer gives Marge an idea. Meanwhile, Homer has gotten a job as a car salesman; but there is an ambulance on the lot that seduces Homer into quitting that job and becoming an ambulance driver. Marge wants to start writing her novel and Homer agrees to watch the kids, while putting in his night shift as an ambulance driver. Marge completes her novel and lets Lisa read it. Seeing one of the characters is hard on her father, Lisa suggests that Marge let Homer read the novel. Homer makes an attempt, fails and tells her that he did. Marge gets her novel published and the kids worry that if Homer ever reads it or sees it as a MADtv sketch, he will be heartbroken. Marge's novel comes out and everyone in Springfield is talking about it. Homer gets the book on tape version, as read by the Olsen twins, and finds out what everyone is talking about. Mad Homer chases after Flanders to do something he should have taken care of a long time ago.

When Hank asks Peggy to design an art piece for Strickland Propane, she creates the "Probot", a statue made out of propane tanks. Her sculpture is rejected by the city board, but picked up by an art dealer from Dallas. Unfortunately, Peggy finds out that the dealer presents her to the public as an uneducated hillbilly. Meanwhile, Dale starts wearing a suit of armor and uses his new found invincibility to insult people without consequences.

Rush and Valens re-open the case of a 25-year-old black woman, who was murdered in 1939, after the woman's granddaughter comes forward with new information. The woman was assumed to be a prostitute murdered by a client, but letters written by the victim indicate that she was afraid of a milkman.

Tina tries to get over her concerns about the new sperm donor. Tim decides to throw a dinner party and invites Marina, making Jenny feel uncomfortable. Alice runs into her abusive ex-girlfriend. Dana has her eye on a chef, but is hesitant to make a move on her.

Carrie and Petrovsky have dinner together, but Carrie walks out on him when he talks about a friend he had that died of cancer. Samantha's treatments go well, except for the fact that her hair starts to fall out. Smith helps her feel better when he shave his head, and the two go out together, both bald. Charlotte and Harry continue to have trouble conceiving, and Charlotte ends up adopting a dog. Meanwhile, Steve and Miranda look at houses in Brooklyn after they both feel that the apartment is too cramped.

Larry David has a huge problem with name tags. Meanwhile, Larry reveals a bathroom preference that disgusts Jeff and later manages to traumatize his daughter, Sammy. Larry also suspects a weatherman's forecasts may have an ulterior motive.
