As Captain Jonathan Archer and T'Pol reach the Syrrannite compound after crossing the treacherous Forge expanse, they are immediately treated like traitors. But as T'Pol's mom T'Les comes forward, the Syrrannite de facto leader T'Pau backs off a bit, especially after she realizes a dangerous exchange has taken place. Before he died, the Syrrannites revered leader Syrran mind-melded with Archer, giving the captain his "katra.? The Syrrannites regard the "katra? as the living spirit of Surak, a man who died 2,000 years ago and is considered the greatest Vulcan who ever lived. Archer, who has been feeling strangely since Syrran mind-melded with him, is having visions of Surak, and realizes that the notions of katra must be true. Further, while T'Pau tries to extract the katra from Archer through another type of mind-meld, Surak resists, staying firmly planted in Archer's consciousness. Surak has decided that Archer should have this katra; Vulcans cannot possibly understand the severity of dangers they currently face. In trying to protect Vulcans, Surak believes that Archer is his best recourse in saving his race.

While helping Grace shop for a dress for the occasion, Joan is delighted to finally meet Grace's seemingly perfect mother, Sarah. However, when Sarah's drinking problem becomes evident, Joan begins to understand why Grace is so private andacirc;andeuro;' and why she's long been avoiding having her bat mitzvah. Meanwhile, Luke racks his brain to come up with a meaningful bat mitzvah gift for Grace. Additionally, Adam and Joan have different ways of coping with Judith's death. Will supports Lucy's less-than-legal means of trying to get one of Judith's friends to describe Judith's on-the-run killer, and Kevin's ex-girlfriend is deposed for the trial.

While the family prepares Thanksgiving dinner for Cate to give her some much needed time off, she's left with nothing to do until she brings home an unexpected guest while on an errand -- Principal Ed Gibb (Adam Arkin, ''Chicago Hope''). Coates gets an unexpected visit when a friend from her criminal past shows up looking for a place to stay. A Naval aviator is in trouble for giving flying lessons to her father, a civilian who just bought an F-18. Bud intervenes on her behalf.

Eact act has to perfom twice tonight. Everyone gives great performances and it's a difficult night to predict who will be going home.

There's a dramatic rooftop showdown this week when Comfort comes face-to-face with her husband, Fin's killer. With murderer Karl about to jump Comfort tries to talk him round so that justice can be done but after things get heated Comfort just has to know why Karl did it and as an argument entails Comfort watches as Karl jumps to his death. Is Comfort's nightmare finally over? Elsewhere Ellen reveals her and Abs wedding plans much to the shock of their friends and colleagues.
