In the season premiere, we meet the Bachelorette, Trista, and learn about her past, who she is, and what makes her so special. Trista then hosts a cocktail party and is introduced to the 25 men hoping to become her husband for the first time. By the end of the evening, she faces the daunting task of selecting 15 whom she would like to know better, and presents each one with a single red rose. But at this point and at every point thereafter, the men can either accept or decline the Bachelorette's invitation to continue on the journey. After much deliberation, Trista offered a rose to Russell, Greg T., Ryan, Brian C., Brook, Michael, Brian S., Jack, Charlie, Josh, Brian H., Jamie, Rob, Jeff, and Bob. The men who accepted the rose will now move into a bachelor pad for much of their courtship with the Bachelorette.

Trip is alone on a test mission aboard Shuttlepod One, trying out the latest autopilot upgrades. Suddenly, he is fired upon by an alien ship and must make an emergency landing on a nearby moon. It's nighttime, and Trip attempts to repair the transceiver in order to contact Enterprise. While he's working, he is suddenly attacked by a mysterious alien. Trip retreats into his shuttlepod, but quickly notices that the alien interloper has stolen his transceiver.

When a Sunday drive goes bad, host Alton Brown finds himself pushing the limits of his casserole knowledge to free his dog from angry church ladies.

Ally, a young writer for a tabloid, meets a man who claims he sees others the path they are destined to follow. His predictions for her prove uncannily accurate and she soon becomes dependent on his predictions to guide her life. When he gets hit by a car and killed she finds herself without hope.

Tina, a flower shop clerk, finds herself threatened by a seemingly-deranged man named George who mysteriously disappears after asking him to stop from killing her. When she finds him he has a perfect alibi and claims he doesn't know her. George keeps visiting her and no one ever sees him except Tina. Tina begins to question her sanity.

The administration works tirelessly on the foreign-aid bill, but Senate Republicans, as well as Democrats, have different ideas, leaving Josh to get the votes the White House needs. To do so, Josh dispatches Donna to hunt down a freshman senator while Josh deals with a Senator who will only vote with the White House if they agree to fund a medical study on the efficacy of prayer. Meanwhile, Danny continues to get closer to the truth behind the Sharif affair; and Charlie sets out to help a soldier's family who is in need of food stamps.

The hit-and-run death of a popular high-school student leaves the detectives suspecting the girl's father was the real target. When evidence reveals that the death was possibly a random killing, they are able to track down their suspect to his apartment. However things get complicated when their killer is murdered, and the person who committed the crime happens to be the victim's mother.
