Hijack Season 1 Episode Release Dates, Cast, Trailer

Season 1 starts Wednesday 28th June 2023 // Network: Apple TV+

Hijack Official Synopsis

"When Flight KA29 is hijacked during its seven-hour journey from Dubai to London, authorities on the ground scramble for answers. Sam Nelson - an accomplished corporate negotiator - tries using his professional skills to save everyone on board. Will this high-risk strategy be his undoing?"

Why You Should Watch It

While chatter about Idris Elba being the next 007 has died down, he's now taken on the role as airborne Jack Bauer. A seven-hour flight told over seven episodes should see the show play out roughly in real time, and while he probably doesn't have a weapon on-board a plane, Elba's on-screen presense should be all the ammunition he needs to get the job done, and all the the reason you need to watch this thriller.

Who Is In It?

Idris Elba, who just wrapped up playing Luther for the last 13 years with a Netflix feature film, leads an enormous cast. Playing Sam Nelson, his negotiating skills lie in the fast paced corporate world, rather than the subtleties of hostage taking; will he cause more problems during the crisis than he solves?

A "who's who" of UK talent fill out the cast, with Max Beesley as the Detective Inspector on the ground, looking for clues and answers to the hijackers motivations and plans. Archie Panjabi, who won an Emmy for portraying Kalinda in The Good Wife, is Counter Terrorism officer Zahra Gahfoor. Ben Miles, lately seen in Andor, is the aircrafts pilot. Eve Myles, who shot to fame on Torchwood, plays Alice Sinclair. Christine Adams, recently in Black Lightning, is Marsha Smith-Nelson, indicating she's probably Sam's (ex?-) wife? Also brand-new new-comer to the acting scene, Mohamed Elsandel portrays Jaden, possibly one the hijackers.

Fun Fact

Think you have a slight phobia of the cramped environment on a plane? Though the show is just 7 episodes long, and 7 hours of "real" time, the filming schedule actually took six long months. The cast and filming crew "boarded" the exact scale replica plane set more than a 100 times, sometimes day after day for hours on end. Imagine a long haul flight that never ends...
