Secret Invasion Official Synopsis
"Nick Fury learns of a secret invasion by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls, who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity."
Why You Should Watch It
The first TV outing of Phase 5 of the MCU, brings back beloved character - Nick Fury (who showed up in the credits of the very first MCU film - Iron Man - 15 years ago). Tipped at one point to be Samuel L Jackson's standalone Marvel film, it stuck the course and is releasing as a 6 part limited series. Judging by the trailer, which is fit for a cinema sized blockbuster, we are dealing with the darker side of the MCU, after the lighter but not as liked Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk. The small screen has had a good run of excellent spy shows this season, but Secret Invasion looks unmissable, especially if you're even moderately invested in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Who Is In It?
A who's who of the MCU spy world, ex-SHIELD agents meet old CIA friends, and cross the pond to drag in MI6 for good measure too.
Samuel L Jackson reprises his role as Nick Fury, former director of SHIELD, in what might be his last outing, as he talks about "one last flight". Fury was last seen being a grumpus, waking up on a space ship/station in a mid-credits scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home. Obviously where Fury goes so does Maria Hill, portrayed by Cobie Smulders once more.
We also learned that Talos (played by Ben Mendelsohn), was shape-shifted as Nick Fury during that time period, so has been on Earth while Fury has been offworld. Don Cheadle pops in for a cameo as James Rhodes, before he returns in the 'Armor Wars' movie, which should tie directly in to the consequences of Secret Invasion.
Marvel caused excitement by announcing two new cast members that are MCU original characters. Olivia Coleman (previous seen in just about anything produced in the UK) plays MI6 agent, and an old Fury ally, Sonya Falsworth. We'll see how long that lasts... And Talos' daughter G'iah is portrayed by Emilia Clarke who (checks notes) voiced an episode of Thunderbirds Are Go, and did some other stuff.

When Will New Secret Invasion Episodes Be Released On Disney+?
The first episode of the series is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, 21st of June, 2023. Like most Disney+ shows, episodes are available on a weekly basis, so the schedule is as follows.

Fun Fact...
When the trailer for the first Avengers film was released, and details were spare, the fandom theorised that the invading horde was either Kree or Skrulls. We now know that Thanos actually gifted Loki (the first variant) with a Chitauri force. The Kree eventually turned up in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie with Ronan the Accuser, and then in later seasons of Agents of SHIELD. The Kree-Skrull war was depicted in Captain Marvel.
