Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Official Synopsis
"In the decade before Capt. Kirk, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, confronts increasingly dangerous stakes, explores uncharted territories, and encounters new life and civilizations. The crew will also embark on personal journeys that will continue to test their resolve and redefine their destinies."
Why You Should Watch It
Easily the best of the Nu-Trek series, Strange New Worlds finally embodies the hope and lighter-heartedness of the original show and the Federation that fans love so much. With stand alone episodes, but having a larger over arcing story, it's an easy-to-watch series that doesn't stray too far from its roots, and leaves the doom and gloom to the other future facing shows. Early reviews are proclaiming Season 2 even more "fun", with a looser structure than Picard or Discovery giving more freedom to explore all aspects of the crew and the future settings. It has also already been greenlit for a third season, whereas Picard just finished its final run, and Discovery returns next year for its fifth and final voyage. Plus, Kirk!
Who Is In It?
The whole crew is back on deck, ish.
Anson Mount plays Christopher Pike, for whom we know bad things are in his future; so does he, and he's haunted by his future visions, which sometimes play a large role in his decision making, for better or worse.
Rebecca Romijn returns as Number One, or Una as we learned in Season... er... Una. At the end of said season, she was arrested for "crimes" and escorted off the Enterprise. Her story will pick up in a good ole fashion Star Trek courtroom episode.
Ethan Peck has done a fabulous job picking up the mantle of Spock, in both Discovery and Strange New Worlds. His talents will be tested though when he's thrown into the role of ship Captain, while Pike is off saving...
La'an Noonien-Singh (depicted by Christina Chong), last seen leaving the Enterprise to help a young survivor of a Gorn encounter find her family. The mission saw her planning to leave Federation Space. Probably not a great idea.
