Outlander Season 7 Episode Release Dates, Cast, Trailer
Season 7 starts Friday 16th June 2023 // Network: Starz
Outlander Season 7 Official Synopsis
"Outlander spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure. It follows Claire, a married WWII combat nurse, who mistakenly steps back in time to year 1743 where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world of adventure that sends her on the run and threatens her life. When Claire is forced to marry Jamie, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, it ignites a passionate affair that tears Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives."
Why You Should Watch It
Outlander Season 7, and the Revolutionary War (the one a century before the Civil War), is upon us. This is not the end of the story though, as the upcoming season will be the longest season (16 episodes) since the first, though like then the episodes will arrive in two blocks of eight. And the show has already been renewed for an eighth (and final) season. Season 6 ended with the family separated and Claire finding herself in danger (when doesn't she?), but I'm sure they'll all be back together soon enough, with new people in their lives causing them mischief, and maybe some returning faces. In a show about time travel, is anyone really ever gone?
Who Is In It?
At the start of Season 7, Claire, played by Caitriona Balfe, is in a spot of bother. Jamie, portayed by Sam Heughan, returns to Wilmington just in time to save her (presumably). Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) have returned to 1980, but things aren't as peaceful as they'd hoped. Young Ian (John Bell) and Fergus (César Domboy), Jamie's nephew and adopted son, are on hand to keep the peace at the Ridge against growing forces, such as the Brown's 'committee of safety', as the Revolutionary War threatens everything they've built.
New major players in the show include Quaker brother and sister Rachel Hunter (played by Izzy Meikle-Small) and Dr. Denzell Hunter (Joey Phillips). A grown-up William, Jamie's bastard son, is portrayed by Charles Vandervaart, and will presumably cause tensions on the Ridge.
Also notable characters returning in some aspect are Dougal MacKenzie, played by Graham McTavish (who's also seen in fantasy series The Witcher), and sometime protagonist Geillis Duncan, portrayed by Lotte Verbeek. Jamie's older sister Jenny makes an appearance, but not one that fans will instantly recognised. Previously played by Laura Donnelly, the character will now by portrayed by Kristin Atherton. While it's hasn't been revealed why Donnelly has exited the role, she did recently have a major arc in The Nevers, and was the lead in the Marvel one-shot 'Werewolf by Night', and as Season 7 has been in development for some time, it's likely schedules conflicted.

When Will New 'Outlander' Episodes Be Released On Starz?
Even though Season 7 will be the biggest season since the first, it is split into two halves. The first run of eight episodes starts on Friday the 16th of June 2023, and episodes will air weekly until the start of August. The second half does not yet have a release timeframe, but early 2024 is probably the wisest bet, a six month hiatus for fans to survive through.

Theme Music Changes
The intro theme track, The Skye Boat Song, has been performed by different artists in different styles every season. Season 7 will be performed by Sinead O'Connor.
"Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that's beautiful about Outlander" says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer of the show. "She is talented beyond measure. Hers is a voice of the ages - one which pierces heart and soul-and embodies the spirit of the show."
