Brandon interviews Roger Azarian for a senior profile in the Blaze. Roger is an outstanding student and athlete, but is overwhelmed by the legacy of his father; a self-made millionaire. Roger asks Brandon to read a screenplay that he has written. Brandon is disturbed by the autobiographical aspects of the script, especially since it ends with the lead character murdering his father. Brandon finds a gun in Roger's car and fears that he is going to kill his father. He tracks down the missing Roger in his pool house, where he is actually contemplating suicide. After receiving terrible SAT scores Donna decides to become a bad girl, skipping classes and taking up smoking. After the guidance office intervenes she is tested for and diagnosed with a learning disability that inhibits her test-taking skills. She is given another chance on the test and presumably scores much higher the second time. Ironically, Brenda and Brandon receive identical scores on the SAT (1190). Lisa helps Marge rekindle her passion for painting, after the family discovers some of her old artwork up in the attic. Meanwhile, Homer is determined to lose weight after becoming stuck in a water slide at an amusement park.

Cooper and the others find the petroglyph and Windom Earle becomes friends with a kid. He tells him about White and Black Lodge. Pete helps Catherine with the puzzle and Lana wants the Miss Twin Peaks pageant to be rigged. Annie and Cooper go on a walk and he finds a poem Earle sent the girls. He tells Harry it is a poem given to Caroline. Major Briggs looks into Earle's Project Bluebook and Cooper realizes Earle and Leo are working together. Shelly, Lucy, Donna, Nadine, Lana and Audrey all enter the contest and Mike tells Bobby what Nadine can do in the bedroom. Cole parts with Shelly and Donna wants to know more about Benand her mom. Treymayne hosts a wine tasting and Windom Earle leaves his next victim with a note that is personal to Cooper.

In a box of things left to Jerry by his grandfather, Jerry finds a statue that matches one that George's parents had until it was broken. Meanwhile, Elaine boyfriend agrees to clean Jerry's apartment, but after he's done, the statue had disappeared from the mantle where Jerry had left it. Elaine and Jerry find the statue at Elaine's boyfriend's house and have to get it back without risking Elaine's editing job but at the same time have to save George from his parents fury.
