After discovering that an old friend may have been recently sired by Spike, Buffy informs the gang that they must keep a close eye on him. When Spike manages to go out, he gets put in a mysterious trance and then seduces and kills a girl with the evil morphing entity watching over him. Meanwhile in England, Giles finds a fellow watcher close to death. While he is finding out what happened, a man with no eyes approaches Giles from behind, and swings an axe at his head...

Richard corners Rory at a family dinner and persuades her to accompany him on a visit to Yale University, his alma mater. Although Rory has her heart set on going to Harvard, she reluctantly accepts the invitation, and the trip becomes a family affair when Emily and Lorelai tag along. Once they arrive on campus, however, Rory is infuriated to learn that she has an appointment with the dean of admissions. Meanwhile, back in Stars Hollow, Luke lays down the law to Jess about his relationship with Rory.

When no one can agree on where the family vacation should take place, Paul challenges the Hennessey clan to give up their bad habits for a week and the winner gets to choose the vacation spot. But the family's vices soon get the better of them, and secret collaborations and clandestine alliances threaten to foil the contest.

A Smallville student, Ian, displays the ability to make clones of himself and uses his power to date both Choe and Lana. Meanwhile Lex goes to anger management class and meets an attractive local doctor.

Hyde won't let Jackie know that he will be faithful for the time she is gone or at all. Eric worry about Donna and him going to two different colleges.

George returns to CTU where he orders the medics to revive a badly injured Paula, who has vital information.



Palmer comes down hard on Eric for his deception.



Kim takes Megan to the hospital, but the staff accuses her of abuse.



Jack locates the leader of the American terrorist cell. He learns that the woman who gave them inside information on CTU is an old enemy.

Cheryl drags Jim down to the church for the new reverend's mess, which is supposed to be "the next best thing". Jim sees some familiarity on him, and remembers he was the kid he played dodge-ball with back when they were kids. Jim also remembers that he threw the ball so hard at the guy he got a fat lip (and a funny nickname) for weeks (the nickname lasted for years). When Cheryl invites the reverend over for dinner, Jim freaks out, hoping he won't remember a thing. But Jim's hopes go down the drain when the reverend confronts him and later quits the church, giving his inability to forgive Jim as a reason. Feeling guilty, Jim apologizes and even takes on Gracie and Ruby's advice on offering Reverend Pierson a chance to throw a dodge-ball back at him.

The future of seven seamen hang in the balance due to Lt. Singer's recommendation of court martial for all of them following a mishap on the ship. However, Singer's career could also be doomed if the father of her unborn child is someone on the Seahawk, and it's Harm and Mac's job to find out who it is. The problem is, the career-oriented Singer isn't talking, so Harm enlists the help of Lt. Manetti to do some sneaky behind-the-scenes investigating in order discover the identity of the father.

Niles prepares to undergo heart bypass surgery. He is surprised to receive a call wishing him well from Maris, who had learned of his plight from a gossipy acquaintance. Frasier tries to keep Roz and the family at ease by researching the procedure (as well as the doctors' backgrounds) and printing out detailed descriptions for everyone. However, he winds up getting on the surgeon's nerves by questioning his approach to the operation. Martin tries to act as though everything is fine so that he doesn't have to deal with the fear and uncertainty of the situation. Roz tries to help the terrified Daphne stay calm. She refuses to think of other things, stating that she has no future until she knows that Niles is all right. Niles' drug-induced comment about the possibility of hospitals having "memories" about their patients prompts everyone to think back on past experiences in that hospital, from Niles' birth to a time that Roz mistook lipstick on Alice's cheek for a rash. Daphne grows more and more tense as they await word on the surgery. When Martin and Frasier repeatedly bicker about a candy bar stuck in the vending machine, Daphne smashes the machine with a fire extinguisher. She breaks down crying, and everyone does their best to console her. Niles' surgery goes even better than expected, and he begins his recovery. A relieved Daphne is finally able to bring herself to think about their future.
