Dawn lies to Buffy and spends Halloween night joyriding and partying with her friend Janice and two older boys. She develops a crush on one of the boys, Justin, and receives her first real kiss. When the boys reveal themselves to be vampires Dawn stakes Justin and is devastated. Buffy decides Dawn needs a serious grown-up talk but she hands the task over to Giles, who is not at all happy about the way Buffy is depending on him so much. Meanwhile, after Willow and Tara have a fight about Willow's abuse of magic, Willow casts a spell on Tara to make her forget the fight.

Max travels to Hollywood while investigating a murder he believes was committed by an alien. He discovers a link to a Paramount science fiction show called "They Are Among Us" and when he goes to the Paramount lot to investigate he ends up auditioning for the part of an alien on an episode of "Enterprise" directed by Star Trek alum, Jonathan Frakes. Meanwhile, back in Roswell, Isabel and Jesse struggle over how to reveal their engagement to their families.

Luke's sister Liz feels like her son Jess is getting into too much trouble and asks Luke to take care of him. Lorelai decides to throw Jess a welcome party, but at the party Jess is only nice to Rory. Luke receives phone calls about Jess stealing money and lawn gnomes and tries to talk to Jess, but becomes too angry, and pushes him into the lake. Later, Luke goes to confront Jess and lays down his new rules. Meanwhile, Paris is trying to make Rory's life miserable at 'The Franklin' by assigning to interview Mr. Medina.

When Greg starts to dress and act strangely after driving the used car Dharma recently bought, she worries he's been possessed by the spirit of the car's previous owner, a petty criminal and gambler who met an untimely death. Meanwhile, Edward has Larry set up a security camera at his house to help catch the kid who eggs his house every Halloween, but the "trick" is still on him.

An abusive and hot-tempered football coach gains the ability to control and project fire.

Dr. Cox is still facing the threat of suspension, and coincidentally, J.D. is assigned to a special patient: Jordan Sullivan, an important board member. She is very demanding and J.D. ends up sleeping with her after he confronts her. Only he didn't know that she is Dr. Cox's ex-wife, and now the only one who can save J.D.'s mentor from being fired by the evil Dr. Kelso.

Meanwhile, Elliot is assigned to take care of a shrink whose jaw has been wired shut, and for whom she ends up becoming a patient.

Carla's mom makes a scandal after Carla spends the night at Turk's, and when she breaks her leg, Carla blames Turk for it.

On Hallowe'en, Frasier holds a party where everyone comes dressed as their hero. Frasier is Sigmund Freud, Martin is Joe DiMaggio, Daphne is Elton John, Niles is Martin and Roz is Wonder Woman. As the night progresses, Martin feels that Niles is mis-portraying him, since everyone talks in character.

From rocky cliffs to gentle dunes, the coasts are always changing. Day in and day out, they are battered by crashing waves. Seabirds come here by the thousands to nest, while baby turtles hatch and race to the sea, pursued by hungry predators. Young sea lion pups are born and play on the sand - until a killer whale attacks, crashing in on the surf. But when breeding season is over, life returns to the sea and the shores are empty once again.
